From Plastic to Professional: Your 3-Step Upgrade Path
Most riders begin their journey with a Tech Deck made from plastic. It's a nice introduction, but the "plastic snap" and lack of grip may prevent you when you start learning more advanced skills.
This guide explains how to shift to a professional Fingerboard setup, currently the industry standard for performance and realistic control.
Step 1: The "Feel"
Start with foam grip tape and urethane wheels.
Foam Grip Tape: Swap the standard sandpaper for soft, high-density foam. It provides more comfort and better "flick" for flip tricks.
CNC Urethane Wheels: Move away from hard plastic. Urethane wheels have the grip and "squeak" of real skateboard wheels, featuring internal bearings for a buttery-smooth roll.

Step 2: The "Control"
Move to a 32mm or 34mm 5-ply wooden deck for better weight and pop.
5-Ply Wooden Maple Deck: A handcrafted 5-ply wooden deck is usually included with professional fingerboard setups. Wood has a lot more "pop" and is lighter than plastic, which makes it possible to perform difficult tricks and increase your ollies' height.

34 mm Tuned Trucks: While toys occasionally use stiff, narrow trucks, 34mm is the industry norm. For grinds and landings, their wider trucks offer a more solid support. They provide realistic steering that replicates a full-sized skateboard when combined with proper internal bushings (tune).
